This is a photo of my friends and me in
our final year of high school athletics carnival. We dressed up as cartoon characters. We all made our own costumes –I am the person
who dressed up as Fred Flintstone. I
still remember how I tore apart an orange flat sheet and painted triangles on
it with acrylic paint.
This is the building White Temple located in Nantan, Kyoto Japan. It was designed by architects Takashi
Yamaguchi and Associates. The building
is surrounded by a sea of trees in the mountains. Its rectilinear form contrasts with the
organic surroundings and evoke an interesting sense of juxtaposition. The building challenges the stereotype of
conventional temples and delivers a strong sense of contemplation and solitude.
This photo
is taken from Shibuya, Tokyo last December.
Although our family visits Tokyo every year, I still find the neon
lights and LED display light boxes beautiful and quite amusing. This is something that we do not see very
often in Sydney. These light boxes do
not only provide a directory for pedestrians signaling them where to go; but
also give a sense of security for those who are on the streets late at
night.
